Malas can be made of many materials — we only use the 12 traditional aromatic wooden beads.
Each unique aroma of wood is believed to have the healing power of the 12 negative emotions of human beings (Anxiety, depress, restless, nervous etc.). These aromatic wood from Tibet and Nepal have been used by yogis and spiritual seekers for thousands of years to keep their minds in peace and focused during meditation.Malas was first created in India 3000 years ago (with roots in Buddhism), the term 'mala' is a Sanskrit word for "meditation garland." A mala is a string of beads that are used in a meditation practice. All our malas are hand-made by Buddhist Monks and their families. The knots are tied as they recite mantras to keep the negative energy at distance.
